Although the holidays may be over, it’s not too late to treat yourself to a winter weekend getaway. In case you didn’t get some time to yourself yet, this is the perfect chance to give yourself a weekend to relax. There are plenty of resorts and spots that aren’t too far away and ideal for a mini getaway. From indoor waterparks to resorts farther north, there’s something for everyone.

Woodloch Resorts

Woodloch is a resort nestled in the Pocono Mountains and one of the closest destinations that makes for an easy weekend escape. This resort has activities for every season and winter is no exception. From ice skating to tubing to snowshoeing, Woodloch offers some of your favorite winter activities as well as a place to take a break from your busy life.

Blue Mountain Resort

If you’re interested in winter sports, with of course the option to relax in the resort, Blue Mountain Resort may be more your speed. With slopes nearby, the resort offers skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing for you and your family to spend time being active and enjoying the season. Who doesn’t want to enjoy hot chocolate by the fire after enjoying the beautiful snowy weather?

If you’re looking for a different experience than a traditional lodge getaway in the mountains, you can drive a bit further to find yourself celebrating the winter in the city. You’re still able to take part in outdoor activities like ice skating at Blue Cross RiverRink as well as escape the cold with Philadelphia’s many museums that offer a variety of deals for different days of the week. Fourth of July isn’t only the perfect time of year to spend in America’s Birthplace.

Lake Placid

The Adirondacks in Upstate New York are the furthest drive on this list, so this locale could require a longer stay than a couple days. If that’s what you’re looking for though, Lake Placid is a quaint, beautiful winter getaway. It’s the home of the 1932 and 1980 Olympics, making it historic with Olympic sites to tour as well as home to trails for skiing, snowshoeing and more. Between the town to walk around, shop and eat, and the outdoor activities, Lake Placid offers a home away from home for winter and snow lovers.

Great Wolf Lodge

If you’re not a fan of the winter, then we have some places for you too. You don’t have to ski or walk through the winter snow. Great Wolf Lodge is the place to spend inside with attractions like an arcade, mini-golf, and indoor waterpark and more. Perfect to escape the cold weather and enjoy some summer activities with your family in the winter. What’s even better is the lodge is already located in the Pocono Mountains.

Kalahari Resorts

Kalahari Resorts is another place to escape the snow and not have to wait for months to enjoy fun summer activities. Similarly, to Great Wolf Lodge, Kalahari has an indoor waterpark, which is the largest one in America, as well as activities like laser tag, bowling and more. Nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, this trip doesn’t require long hours in the car.
